Judgement…don’t do it…don’t fear it

I am writing this post because a lot of what I do with my athletes is to help them stop fearing judgement.  Men and women have similar insecurities such as being judged for being towards the back of the pack, not feeling confident in the gym, fear of how people view their bodies and what people think when they see them running.  I find myself sometimes worrying for a second about what others think and then remember that it doesn’t matter.  I love myself for exactly who I am and who I am not.  I learned how to embrace my shyness and be proud of being different.  I even wear costumes at races so that I can have the courage to talk in front of hundreds of people at the start of a race!

We all know that the judgment of others can be hard to take. But it’s important to remember that allowing yourself to feel judged by others just sets you up for a life of insecurity, fear, and self-doubt.

When we allow ourselves to feel judged by others, we’re essentially giving them the power to dictate how we feel about ourselves. We should never forget that we’re the only ones in control of our thoughts and actions. It’s essential to be confident in ourselves and our decisions, and not allow ourselves to be swayed by the opinions of those around us. We are all unique and have our own set of values and beliefs. And nobody should try to take that from you.

Here are 5 tips to help you stop feeling judged by others

  1. Remember that you are enough and perfect as you are.

 2.  Focus on your own goals and aspirations, and don’t worry about what other people think.

 3. Focus on your own journey. Don’t compare yourself to others and their successes.

 4. Don’t be afraid to say no. Don’t let others force you into situations that make you feel uncomfortable or judged.

 5. Develop a strong sense of self-worth. You are the only one who can define your value

In today’s world, it’s so easy to be quick to judge someone who might be different than us. We may see someone with a different style or different beliefs, and it’s so easy to make quick judgements. But it’s important to remember that we never truly know what someone is going through or where they are coming from.

Judging someone based on appearance or beliefs doesn’t accomplish anything. It only serves to create a divide between people and can lead to negative consequences. Everyone deserves to be accepted for who they are and have their opinions respected. So instead of judging others, let’s try to be more understanding and open-minded. Let’s be more willing to try and understand where someone else is coming from, and why they believe what they believe. Let’s strive to be more tolerant of differences, and be more willing to embrace diversity.

At the end of the day, we’re all human and we all deserve to be treated with respect and kindness. So let’s be more accepting rather than judgemental, and create a better world for everyone.

When we judge we are reflecting our own insecurities towards others so if you find yourself judging others often take some time to look within yourself and you may find that you have fears and insecurities within yourself.  With mindfulness and some practice you can love yourself without conditions which will allow you to do the same for others.
